Botanical Name: Narcissus (plural Narcissi)
Also referred to as Paperwhites.

Common Name: Daffodils

Availability: Fall to Spring. October till April.

Colors: Many different shades of white, pink, orange, and
yellow.

Varieties: Many varieties available; with varieties in a
combination of colors.  

Facts: Very fragrant. Often grown indoors during the winter
months. Easy to grow, and are often given as gifts to grow
indoors as well. Parts of plant are poisonous.
New varieties appear almost year after year.

Origin: Europe and Asia

Facts of Interest: Narcissus comes from a Greek word
meaning "numbness" which is believed to be related to the
narcotic properties of the Narcissus.
Some people believe it brings good luck for one year when
the plant is forced to grow; and blooms on New Years Day.
Daffodils are worn on St. Davids Day; and are also the
national emblem of Wales.
