Remember with Poppies.
Memorial Day Poppy.
Remembrance Day; November 11
Poppies in the Garden

Dedicate a place of honor in your garden with
Poppies.
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

By John McCrae

This poem was published in
1915;

The Poppy became a
symbol for all the soldiers
who died in battle.
Red Poppy in the Garden.
The Poppy on Remembrance Day.

Poppies were the flower that had grown over the fields
where soldiers had fought and died in battle in
World War 1.
Poppies have come to be known as;
The Flower of Remembrance.
In Canada, on November 11, Poppies are worn as a
symbol of this remembrance.
It is traditional to wear a Poppy starting on or around
October 27 till November 11; on the left lapel and as
close to the heart as you can.

Remembering for over a hundred years since the first
Remembrance Day that was conducted in 1919; to
commemorate the ending of the First World War in 1918.
Canadians will wear a Poppy to pay tribute by
remembering all soldiers from all wars that have fought
for our freedom.

At the eleventh hour in the morning of the eleventh day,
of the eleventh month. Pause in united silence for two
minutes; and Remember.
